Third Party Certification for Doorsets

In this blog, we will discuss what third-party certification is for doorsets and the benefits it provides.

What is Third-Party Certification?

Third-party certification is a process of evaluating products, processes, or systems by an independent third-party organization to ensure that they meet certain standards or requirements. In the context of doorsets, third-party certification refers to the evaluation of doorsets by an independent certification body to ensure that they meet specific performance standards and requirements.

Certification bodies usually evaluate doorsets based on criteria such as fire resistance, acoustic performance, security, durability, and sustainability. They may also evaluate the manufacturing process and quality management system of the doorset manufacturer to ensure that the product is consistently produced to the required standard.

Benefits of Third-Party Certification for Doorsets

Quality Assurance: Third-party certification provides assurance that the doorsets installed in a building meet the required standards and specifications. This helps to ensure that the doors are fit for purpose and will perform as intended, providing safety and security for occupants.

Compliance with Regulations: Building regulations require certain standards for doors to ensure safety and security. Third-party certification provides a means of demonstrating compliance with these regulations, giving building owners and operators peace of mind that their doors meet the required standards.

Reduced Risk: Third-party certification helps to reduce the risk of product failure, which can have serious consequences in terms of safety of residents. By ensuring that the doorsets meet the required standards and specifications, therefore certification helps to reduce the risk of product failure and associated costs associated to rectify issues.

Third-party certification provides a means of demonstrating that a doorset manufacturer is committed to producing high-quality products that meet the required standards. Which in turn shows a commitment to residents safety.

Certisecure

Certisecure is a scheme provided by Warringtonfire for manufacturers and suppliers, offering end users confidence in a product’s performance to deliver property protection and public safety.  In the UK, Certisecure supports the police-sponsored Secured by Design initiative. They ensure that the scheme is kept up-to-date, in order to combat the latest methods criminals are employing. Certisecure ensures products meet the requirements of PAS24 (enhanced security) and BS476:31 (smoke control)

The fundamental benefit of Certisecure is seated in giving the regulator, specifier, customer and end-user confidence with regard to the stated performance of the product. It provides an informed choice to those purchasing or selecting the product.

Dual Certification

JELD-WEN offer dual certification on the SecureSET range of flat entrance doorsets which mean they are both fire and enhanced security rated for exceptional performance. These certified security fire doorsets provide peace of mind that the people, property and assets within the building are protected from opportunist thieves, vandalism, attack, fire and smoke. The tests demonstrate the door’s ability to resist fire for at least 30 minutes, as well as an intruder’s attempts to gain entry to PAS 24 test standards. All Secured By Design (SBD) housing developments require entrance doors to have third-party security certification.

SBD (Secured By Design) is official police initiative to improve the security of buildings and their surroundings. The SecureFIT™ and SecureSET range of doorsets meet these requirements and are perfect for your next fire and security rated project.

Conclusion

Certification provides assurance of quality, compliance with regulations, reduced risk, improved reputation, and access to new markets.
